Lizzie and the Dark
Lizzie is afraid of the dark, even though the dark lives in the basement of her house. One night, when Lizzie's nightlight breaks, the dark comes to visit her in her room. Will Lizzie have the courage to accept the dark's invitation to go to the basement?
Here's a snippet of the words and lyrics (also called a libretto) that the children wrote, which we used to compose an aria:
The dark helped Lizzie. Yes!
It was respectful. Really good behaviour.
It was friendly, it was kind, it had good manners
And it showed her something that she never knew;
Maybe it could be my new best friend...
Lizzie and the Dark was based on a picture book by Lemony Snicket.
